When did The Sound Garden open?
The Baltimore location opened in 1993 in a small space across the street from our current location. We aggressively pursued and stocked the widest array of used and new music, so naturally our customer base expanded rapidly. In 1995, we leased our current Baltimore location and moved in on a September night. With free parking and ten times the space, our buyers contributed to our decision to expand our selection by adding vinyl, DVDs, Blu-Rays, video games and DJ equipment.
What the story with Syracuse and why open a store there?
We opened the Syracuse store in 1997. Both stores feature a large warehouse "Indie" vibe (we are too cheap to make them look nice) with free parking lots. Armory Square, Syracuse is very similar to Fells Point, Baltimore. With ownership hailing from upstate New York and Syracuse University lacking a record store, it seemed like a worthy idea. Ron and Eric have made the 'Cuse store their Media Playhouse...we think you're gonna love this store if you pay a visit!
